Follow the brewer's instructions first.
Use the equipment manufacturer's method as your starting point. Record the coffee, dose, water amount and method before adjusting the result.
Match the grind to the method.
French press generally starts with a coarse grind; espresso uses a fine grind. The right starting point depends on the equipment and method, so specify the brewer when requesting ground coffee.
Change one variable.
If the result does not suit your taste, change one factor at a time and record the result. Changing the coffee, grind, dose and method together makes comparisons harder.
Keep the routine repeatable.
Clean the brewer according to its instructions and keep useful notes. This guide does not certify equipment compatibility or promise a particular extraction result.
